Article: Treating trauma in psychosis with EMDR
Treating trauma in psychosis with EMDR: A pilot study.
Van den Berg and van der Gaag (2012) studied the effectiveness of EMDR in a pilot study when administered as treatment to people with psychosis and comorbid PTSD, and showed that treatment led to significant reduction in many PTSD and psychosis symptoms, without any harmful side-effects like aggressive behavior or symptom exacerbation. These findings suggest that EMDR is a usefull method for patients with psychosis and comorbid PTSD and that there is no need for a special treatment protocol or prolonged stabilizing interventions.
