Ton de Wijs
My professional background is that of a social psychologist; I have been committed to the field of psychotrauma for almost 25 years. Besides, over the past seven years I have also been a director of the Institute for Psychotrauma (IvP). The IvP is a leading institution concerned with the effects of traumatic events that not only operates in the Netherlands but also internationally. As a director of the IvP I am also a member of the board of trustees of the Arq Foundation, a psychotrauma holding in the Netherlands. This helps me to remain highly focused on the field. I also serve (as the treasurer) on the board of the Dutch Society for Traumatic Stress (NtVP).
I believe that the combination of my managerial and financial skills and my knowledge of what goes on in the field of trauma can support further developments of the ESTSS. I would especially like to contribute to the commitment to the ESTSS of our colleagues working in the field of trauma in Europe, enhancing their participation but also improving the services rendered to the members.
