Maya Lis-Turlejska Ph. D.
I am a professor of psychology at the University of Warsaw, where I teach and conduct research into traumatic stress issues and clinical psychology. I have edited and authored a number of books, among which New phenomena in psychotherapy (1991); Traumatic stress: Theories and research (1998); Traumatic stress: Prevalence, consequences and treatment (2002); Traumatic events and their psychological consequences (2005). My research focuses on the consequences of war trauma (in particular, that pertaining to the Second World War) and the prevalence of PTSD among the general population.
In 1995 I became involved in ESTSS activities, and I have been an active member of the ESTSS Board since 2007. In 2008 I helped found the Polish Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and I was subsequently elected as its President.
As a member of the ESTSS Board I would further promote the interest in posttraumatic interventions and research activities in the area of traumatic stress studies in Poland and Eastern European countries.
