Ufuk Sezgin PhD
A clinical and forensic psychologist by profession, I work as an associate professor, consultant and supervisor in both the Psychiatry Department of Kocaeli University and the "Psychological Trauma Education and Research Unit" of its Health Sciences Institute. My duties include carrying out psychological screenings and assessments, giving group and individual therapy, supervising and planning treatment as well as consulting with multidisciplinary teams and organizing and implementing research projects that are related to PTSD.
I am a member of the Turkish Psychological Association (and a past President of its Istanbul branch). I am the founder of and a consultant with the Purple Roof Women's Shelter (a feminist NGO), and I also founded the Association of Sexual Education, Research and Treatment, a Turkish Human Rights Foundation. A member of both the ISTSS and the ESTSS, I am a representative on the Human Rights Task Force of the ESTSS.
If elected, I will seek to further promote European collaboration in the field. In addition, I would like to further the collaboration and a mutually supportive relationship between academic institutions and NGOs by especially advocating the need for human rights.
