European Workshops
on Traumatic Stress 2009, Help after trauma - new directions in theory and practice, 18-19 September 2009, Warsaw, Poland
EWOTS participants will have the opportunity to take part in workshops to certify for the ESTSS General Certificate in Psychotraumatology.
The objective of the workshops is to provide familiarisation with the issues of trauma and posttraumatic disorders, both from a theoretical standpoint, and to practitioners professionally involved on a day-to-day basis with counselling and psychological care.

Coping & Resilience, International Conference, October 3-6, 2009, Dubrovnik-Cavtat, Croatia
This conference will bring together practitioners, researchers and academics interested in human coping with diverse life circumstances. They will look into resilience to adverse life events through the interplay of individual, family, community and social factors and providing directions for future practice and research. Registration is now open. Submission of proposals for the conference program will open December 15, 2008 and close March 2, 2009.

ISTSS 25th Silver Anniversary Annual Meeting, 5-7 november 2009, Atlanta, Georgia, USA
The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies will host its 25th Annual Meeting at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta with pre-meeting institutes held on November 4, 2009. The theme of the Silver Anniversary Meeting is: "Traumatic Stress Disorders: Toward DSM-V and ICD-11".

Posttraumatic Stress in Preschool Children: Assessment & Evidence-Based Treatment, November 21-22, 2009, UCL Institute of Child Health, London, United Kingdom
The course is intended to be a know-how workshop for participants to leave with a working knowledge of the nuts and bolts for practical everyday clinical work. This will be conducted through lectures and supported by video examples from Dr Scheeringa's research studies. Dr Scheeringa is a recognised expert on PTSD in infant and preschool children. His research with preschool children includes studies that validated the alternative criteria to diagnose PTSD, longitudinal studies of PTSD and randomised CBT treatment of PTSD.

6th Psychological Trauma Symposium (PTS) 'Traumas in Daily Life', 11-13 December 2009, Istanbul, Turkey
At this symposium, stressors in our day to day life will be discussed in a wide spectrum. From street violence and political violence to traumatic effects of global climate changes which are now a matter of survival for our planet and which we would feel more intensively in just one generation and to other man made 'natural disasters'. Themes such as sex labor, 'mobbing', poverty and deprivation, and probable remedial actions and measures which might be taken against them will be discussed as well.
