Articles of Incorporation of the
European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies

situated at Oegstgeest, The Netherlands
executed on 12 July 2000


Formation of a society

On this twelfth day of July of the year two thousand, there appeared before me, mr. Gustave Pieter Lodewijk Bevers, hereinafter referred to as 'civil-law notary', deputising for mr. Johannes Hendrikus Weijenborg, a civil-law notary practising at Amstelveen:
Ms Tecla Maria Berkhout, (......), acting in this matter as mandatary of:
1. Mr Ulrich Peter Schnyder(........)
2. Mr Johannes Nicolaas Schreuder (.......)
the mandate referred to is evidenced by two private instruments, attached to this instrument.
The persons appearing have declared that they wish to establish a Society which will be governed by the following Articles:

Name.
Article 1.
The Society bears the name of European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.

Seat.
Article 2.

It has its official seat at Oegstgeest, The Netherlands.

Objects.
Article 3.

The objects of the Society are:

  1. promoting the broadening of and increase in knowledge of the direct effects of extraordinary events and their long-term consequences for people and on effective treatment to prevent or decrease the undesirable consequences of these effects;
  2. financing enterprises and companies;
  3. borrowing, lending and raising money, including the issuance of bonds, debentures or other securities, as well as concluding related agreements;
  4. giving advice and providing services to enterprises and companies;
  5. incorporating, participating in any way in, managing and supervising enterprises and companies;
  6. obtaining, managing, exploiting and alienating property subject to public registration [registergoederen] and asset values in general;
  7. effecting currency transactions, securities transactions and asset values transactions in general;
  8. exploiting and trading in patents, trademarks, licences, know-how and other industrial property rights;
  9. conducting all kinds of industrial, financial and commercial activities:

and all activities that are related to or can promote the foregoing, all in the broadest sense.

Members.
Article 4.

  1. Members of the Society may be residents of any European country, including Turkey, Cyprus and the states to the west of the Ural and Greenland in the west.
  2. The Board will keep a register in which the names and addresses of all Members are recorded.

Student Members, Associate Members and Supporters.
Article 5.

  1. Student Members are those Members who participate in the activities of the Society, but who are still in training and who have been issued a certificate of registration with a university or college of higher education.
  2. Associate Members are those Members who do not live in a state within the area indicated for Members.
  3. Supporters are those who have declared that they are prepared to support the Society financially by donating a minimum contribution, to be determined by the General Meeting.
  4. Student Members, Associate Members and Supporters have no other rights and obligations than those granted and imposed in or by virtue of the Articles.

Amission.
Article 6.

  1. The Board will decide on the admission of Members, Student Members, Associate Members and Supporters.
  2. In case of non-admission to membership, the General Meeting may still decide to grant admission.
